BONHOMIE BETWEEN AAM AADMI AND POLICE CONSTABLES (21/01/2014)

Newspapers in Delhi had carried out traffic related information in the Sunday edition in view of the forthcoming Republic Day Parade. Such information is issued by the Government every year. Since Krishi Bhavan falls under the VIP zone, I was expecting some trouble in reaching office. However, unexpectedly the bombshell was dropped by Mr. Kejriwal who sat on dharnaa opposite Krishi Bhavan in the lawns of the Railway Bahvan. Monday (20.01.2014) was a bright sunny day and for office goers (including myself), who came out in the lunch to watch this dharnaa, it was more of tamashaa and less of any serious business being conducted by Mr. Kejriwal. Delhi appeared less concerned of the issue involved; at least this is what I could gather from the mood of people who had assembled near the dharnaa site. Now one may argue that the Government Servant who is not an aam aadmi may dismiss this dharnaa as nothing more than a tamashaa. True, but the manner in which there was complete bonhomie between aam aadmi workers on one hand and an ordinary police constable on the other was not lost on the onlookers like me. I have been closely following their activities since Monday as works in offices have virtually come to a standstill due to the mess outside. It is the same police force which is the butt of ridicule by Mr. Kejriwal. While police constables allowed the aam aadmi workers to ferry food items and other essentials into the barricaded enclosure these food items and essentials were also shared by the aam aadmi workers and these constables without any grudge of the issue involved in dharnaa. The aam aadmi workers and police constables not only shared food items but also joke and gossips. So much for the cause of the AAM AADMI- I am still in search of this aam aadmi who appears lost in this melee.
